New OSs

Ok, so I have been playing around with some Linux OSs do to my forensic class. We are using Knoppix to get an image of a hard drive (hdd) without having to boot to that hdd. Well, Knoppix does not like my computer for some reason, it simply refuses to boot off the Live CD. Strangely, BackTrack, Ubuntu, and Kubuntu all boot without a problem.

Another one, Sabayon, that was given to me would boot but I think the disk is scratched and thus never makes it all the way in. Thus, I have downloaded another, also newest version, and plan on trying that. I am told this OS "unleash[es] the full potential of your Computer." We will see at some point.

Slowly I am learning a few Linux commands and how to get around in it, but only time will tell. Though, I do play on getting a small hdd to install about 4 versions of Linux on to play with them all. Right now I'm looking at BackTrack, Ubuntu, Kubuntu, and Sabayon - the latter 3 all x86-64. Yes I know Ubuntu basically equals Kubuntu so I will get help on how to install them so I don't have to actually install both.

If anyone has suggestions of other good releases that I might want to look at let me know and I shall check them out. Till the next time.
